About Us
Cloud City was founded in the fall of 2011 when I was in a dream-like state of mind. My mom/best friend just found out that she was losing her battle with cancer and at the same time, our neighborhood ice cream store felt like it was slowly dying too. It was a place where my mom brought my twin girls to try their first tastes of ice cream when they could barely walk and we shared many great memories there.
Many of the desserts my mom created still haunt my memories and I often attempt to recreate them in the form of ice cream like her bananas foster (Caramelized Banana Ice Cream) and my mom’s amazing cheesecakes inspired our Roasted Cherry Mascarpone. Although we had talked for several years about starting a business together, it was always a discussion about some cloudy plan in a seemingly distant future.
My mom passed away the day before I signed the lease and opened Cloud City Ice Cream. The business is a tribute to her. I hope she would have been proud.
I am addicted to making people happy by making fresh, handmade ice cream. Maybe I’m overly optimistic, but I still believe great food can bring people together and punctuate our memories with happiness. Ice cream helped to save my life and now I’m honored to share a little sweetness with you.
